I run a website, Sportsdepot.com, that lost its visibility due to being "punished" by Google for unknowingly not complying with some of their updates. The client was hit with a Google penalty due to working with an overseas company that was not following Google's guidelines. Traffic dropped by more than 50% and orders were at an all time low.
We identified some of the problems related to on page optimization and bad incoming links. We updated all the product pages and category sections and improve the entire sites main navigation.
We then had to identify all of the "bad links" and upload a disavow file to Google. We had to be careful not to disavow "good" links as it could prevent the website from recovering from the penalty quickly.
➡️ We started work in June. The site was averaging 500 orders per month.
✅ in July we had disavowed 75% of the bad links and updated all the category pages. At the end of July the site was seeing more than 750 orders.
✅ In August we were able to finish disavowing the remaining links and completed all of the website changes. At the end of August the site was now seeing nearly 1,400 orders!
✅ 183% increase in the number of orders from February to August.
✅ The site went from ranking on the first page for a few dozen keywords to hundreds of keywords.
